Betty Pogue Connelly

“I think and am hopeful that the thread in my imagery is emotion and mood, enhanced through painterly energy, color and light . “INNER…SCAPES” refers to your innermost feelings that are evoked when looking at and absorbing our magnificent landscapes.

Betty is from Ottawa, Canada where she taught Senior Sciences for many years. It was her teaching, internationally, in Mexico, Spain, and Qatar where she started her second pursuit, being a visual artist. She subsequently completed a BFA at NSCAD University, Canada and a Post Baccalaureate Diploma from the National University of Ireland.
She presently enjoys her studio “Pogue’s Lair “in the Ottawa Valley, Canada where she studies her craft, teaches art, and exhibits at various local shows and galleries. Also her joy continues to be international travel, in the form of art residencies and studies in France, Bermuda, England and Ireland.

Her last painting studies were at the St. Ives School of Painting, Cornwall, UK. This fall she again returned to Bermuda to participate in the Plein Air Festival, 2022. This winter, 2023 she was accepted and completed a 1 month art residency at the Burren College of Art, Ireland. She is looking forward to returning to Bermuda, this fall, to resume her joy of plein air painting with the very welcoming, Bermuda air group. Acrylics are her principal medium but she also works in mixed media, oils, pastels, and graphite.
