About the Art Centre

The Bermuda Arts Centre at Dockyard, a registered charity, was established in 1984 by a small group of local artists, whose primary objective was: ‘To promote an appreciation and understanding of the visual arts and crafts in Bermuda through exhibitions, workshops and education.’

To this end, the Arts Centre has consistently maintained a varied and interesting schedule of workshops and is renowned for the high quality of its’ themed exhibitions and group shows. The BACD has frequently won the Best of Bermuda Gold Award for Best Art Gallery.

One of the Arts Centre’s unique features is the opportunity to see 3 studio artists at work, whose work covers a broad range of styles and mediums including oil painting,  watercolour, textiles and jewelry making. The Centre also boasts an extensive print gallery and gift shop, in which original artwork and one of a kind gifts can be purchased.

Bermuda holds many talented artists, but they need the support of the community in order to survive and thrive. The BACD strives to provide local artists with a venue that can nurture and showcase their talent, whilst at the same time providing both local and overseas visitors with a place to see Bermuda’s artists and craftsmen at work. The BACD relies on revenue from art sales, membership dues and donations in order to survive.
