Russel Conyers

I am retired from the airline business having spent the past fifty odd years working for Pan Am, American, and British Airways here in Bermuda.

I retired from BA ten years ago and decided to start painting as a hobby again. I enjoy photography and took my camera with on my travels to many interesting parts of the globe.

When painting I use acrylics as I find them forgiving. My style of work can best be described as personally interpretive with thick brush strokes and layer upon layer of paint which I like to swirl around and blend into the overall theme of the work.

Nothing is planned ahead of time, so as I paint the theme of the piece gels with me at the same time. With me I have to be in the right frame of mind or zone, if you will in order to pick up the brush. Once I get started I tend to go all out to finish the painting, but mostly I am never totally satisfied with the result. Hence I have several pieces in what I call “time out”.

So that is a brief bio of myself, a born Bermudian, at the age of 72.
