Sheilagh Head

Sheilagh Head has been painting for many years, most recently in Bermuda.

She began developing her artistic skills earlier, her formal training included study of painting and sculpture at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Perugia, Italy, She completed her education at Manchester College of Art.

Her continuing fascination lies in trying to capture the transient and unique quality of Bermuda’s light and colours. Jurist Robert Rindler of The Rhode Island School of Design commented, “She has the ability to interpret the world in a very personal, and yet universal language”.
Her work currently hangs in many corporate and private collections, both in Bermuda and overseas. Her paintings have also been selected for two exhibitions at the prestigious Mall Galleries in London. More recently she was elected as an artist member of the Copley Society of Boston, the oldest Art Society in The United States.

The artist admits to being less interested in the figurative reality before her, than in the spirit and rhythm of the overall scene. “My paintings are still about the land, sea and sky, but more and more, they become and abstract expression of a grand design and interconnection”.
