Nahed Eid

ONE OF OUR STUDIO ARTISTS. … NAHED IS AWESOME!

Nahed’s journey begins with her father attempting to appease his boisterous daughter with a pair of pliers, wires, and beads. Nahed finally found an outlet for her bubbly energy, and she did so in the most unlikely of places. Hardware stores were treasure troves that she scavenged looking for the most unique and unusual objects. This served to ignite a life long passion for art.

Nahed has deep seated roots in the beautiful lands of Lebanon and Egypt. In addition to an Art Degree from the Lebanese American University, the artist diversified her skill set by taking extramural classes in metalsmithing and wax casting. Her artwork included painting and jewelry making, with an emphasis on color and texture. After moving to NY city from Beirut, Nahed focused mainly on jewelry making. The pieces were made using different components of varying shapes and sizes including unique beads, crystals, and chains. The jewelry was made from the heart and it showed in the artist’s attention to detail and form. In fact, Nahed wore and still does all the pieces she makes for an entire day to test their quality and comfort. Nahed lived in NY city for 22 years and opened a shop called Waxology where she sold her own, as well as other artist’s jewelry. She ran a successful business for 14 years before deciding to move to Bermuda to join her husband. Diamonds are no longer a girl’s best friend. Nahed sports a killer toolbox and takes pride in her collection of found objects scoured on her travels and walks on the beach. Her compositions are vibrant and colorful with a distinct raw and unrestrained quality. She enjoys combining elements with different textures and forms yielding whimsical and unique pieces. She has used glass, shells, and small beach pebbles. She also enjoys working with Gouache as it affords her greater reflective qualities. Her repertoire also include colorful sculptured mobiles, one of which adorned her store in NY City and one still adorns her dining room in NY City.
